Semantic matchmaking in an e-commerce application

Matchmaking is an information retrieval task that consists on retrieving supplies that best fulfill a demand. Semantic matchmaking applies to demands and supplies expressed with reference to a common specification of the domain of interest. We present a semantic matchmaking process based on a non standard reasoning task on OWL descriptions. The matchmaker returns the best offers fulfilling a demand. It is able to give an explanation about the ranked results to the end users.
